In a challenging economic climate marked by pricing pressures, market volatility, and a sense of uncertainty that breeds anxiety and constant stress, entrepreneurs in Quebec are facing tough times. To support their overall well-being, MAIN is launching Parapluie, a new insurance plan designed with their reality in mind.
Available at an introductory price of $225 per year on The Hive platform,Parapluie includes 24/7 access to telemedicine services, mental health services, a personal and professional assistance program, and a set of mental health tools and resources adapted to the entrepreneurial reality.
The mental health of entrepreneurs remains a major issue. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association (2019), 46% say their mental health is affecting their work, and 62% experience symptoms of depression every week, but only 16% seek help. Women, people of color, Indigenous people, and newcomers are even more affected (BDC, 2023). Furthermore, only 43% of entrepreneurs have supplemental health insurance, compared to 67% of employees, and 25% have disability insurance (CCInsurance, 2025).
These figures are a reminder of the importance of taking action. As Louis-Félix BinetteWe can't hope to build companies strong enough to weather the storm and break into international markets if entrepreneurs are weakened.Parapluie is a simple and affordable solution, to give every entrepreneur the courage to take care of themselves and provide a basis of protection for their families.
Three well-known entrepreneurs in the ecosystem have also lent their voices to the cause: Andrew Lockhead of Stay22, Bertrand Nepveu of Tryptiq Capital, and Myriam Corbeil of Hôtel UNIQ. Together, they want to remind everyone that entrepreneurship should never come at the expense of one’s health and that it is time to normalize seeking help along the entrepreneurial journey.
For the launch of Parapluie, MAIN is partnering with organizations and companies that support the well-being of Quebec entrepreneurs and offer products on the La Ruche campaign, including Persévérance entrepreneuriale, Orée Leadership, ProAction Entrepreneur, and Hôtel UNIQ. Through Parapluie, MAIN is taking concrete action to transform the support provided to entrepreneurs and showcase Quebec initiatives that promote their well-being. By recognizing health as a pillar of performance and innovation, Quebec is taking another step toward sustainable, people-centered, and resilient entrepreneurship.
