Launch of Perséis, a research-industry hub for innovative and scientific entrepreneurship
Published on May 3, 2023
The Quebec Innovation Accelerators Movement (main) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) announce the creation of Perséis, a research-industry hub focused on innovative and scientific entrepreneurship. Perséis will be jointly managed by main and the FRQ until 2028.
Perséis aims to engage stakeholders at every stage of the project co-creation process: from defining research needs and questions to disseminating, adopting, and evaluating the impact of research findings.
Over the next few years, perséis will be shaped by several calls for projects as well as networking events, the scope and criteria of which will be refined as new needs arise and based on feedback from Quebec’s innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem.
A first call for proposals has been issued to launch collaborative research projects focused on priority needs. To learn more about the call for proposals, visit our dedicated webpage.
You can find more details about Perséis and the call for proposals on the Fonds de recherche du Québec website.
QUOTES
“Innovative and scientific companies are rolling out groundbreaking solutions and making a significant contribution to the economic and societal transformations called for by Quebec society. The collaborative effort that is making the launch of Espace Perséis possible today has already brought the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the research community closer together. “We are seeing the beginning of encounters between different, diverse, and complementary approaches. The potential to fuel new research areas and new ways of doing business is palpable,” says Rémi Quirion, Quebec’s Chief Scientist.
“The organizations that support our entrepreneurs on a daily basis are more diverse and mature than ever. However, building capacity, adopting best practices, and developing effective tools remain the key ingredients for a globally competitive startup ecosystem. The creation of Perséis—a space for rich and sustained dialogue between support organizations and the research community focused on innovative and scientific entrepreneurship—promises to accelerate this development,” continues Louis-Félix Binette, CEO of main.
