Free training, partnership with the OPIC, and direct assistance in protecting intellectual property assets

The momentumPI service continues to operate at full capacity, even though it officially has only 18 months of operation left.

In terms of training and awareness-raising in intellectual property, we have launched the first training module entitled " The Fundamentals of IP ," available online and free of charge to our entrepreneurs in Quebec. Since its launch, nearly 50 entrepreneurs have completed this module.

Promising new partnership

To further support our IP entrepreneurs, we recently entered into a collaboration agreement with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). Among other things, this agreement will make consultation hours with Nicolas Déziel, intellectual property advisor, available to entrepreneurs.

These office hours can be booked on our training platform. Entrepreneurs will be able to ask questions about the momentumPI service and determine which path is best suited to their business in order to take steps to protect its IP assets.

In addition, we are continuing our weekly information sessions, which welcome dozens of interested entrepreneurs each week, by offering a new format starting in mid-October that will include training from the CIPO on IP-related issues.

In total, since the momentumPI service was launched, 248 companies have either completed or are currently completing phases 2 and 3—i.e., strategy creation and strategy implementation, respectively. It should be noted that each of the companies selected to implement its IP strategy is reviewed by an evaluation committee made up of experts to verify that the IP actions are strategic for the companies.

Coming in the next few months

On the training and awareness side, we will launch a second module, developed in partnership with ROBIC, to offer more advanced training on intellectual property strategies and their impact on business growth.

In terms of creating and implementing the IP strategy, the priority remains to make the service available to as many innovative companies as possible, as there are only 18 months left before momentumPI comes to an end.

It may seem like a long time, but time flies, especially when you consider that legal procedures, such as registering a patent, can take a long time.
