MomentumIP is an initiative funded by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). It aims to help support organizations (accelerators, incubators and others) that offer Canadian startups access to professional intellectual property services.
The service is divided into different phases: firstly, it offers training to raise awareness and provide coaching organizations with better tools, and secondly, with a range of support services for the development and implementation of customized intellectual property (IP) strategies for startups.
In Quebec, MAIN is delivering the momentumIP initiative, in collaboration with a large pool of IP experts. The initiative has been specially designed to take into account the uniqueness of the Quebec ecosystem and the varied needs of support organizations and startups.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SERVICES
Funded IP strategy services
Although momentumIP services are largely financed, an initial payment is required to begin each pathway (creation or implementation of an IP strategy). The amount of this payment varies according to the pathway.
In addition, the startup will have to pay for part of the services, i.e. :
- 25% of the value of the services received for the creation of an IP strategy
- 30% of the value of services received for the implementation of an IP strategy
MAIN is an ElevateIP Recipient, a national program of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, leading in intellectual property supports for startups in Quebec.
